Workshop I Attended

One of the workshops I attended at the 2023 VPPPA Safety+ conference was “Implementing a VPP program.” This workshop provided an overview of the VPP program, including the benefits of participation, the criteria for eligibility, and the application process. The workshop also provided guidance on how to develop and implement a VPP program, including how to identify and assess workplace hazards, how to develop and implement safety and health procedures, and how to train employees on safety and health.

Workshop Learnings

One of the key takeaways from this workshop was the importance of employee involvement in the VPP program. The workshop emphasized that employees should be involved in all aspects of the program, from identifying hazards to developing and implementing safety procedures. Employee involvement can help to ensure that the VPP program is effective in reducing workplace injuries and illnesses.

Another key takeaway was the importance of continuous improvement. The workshop emphasized that the VPP program is an ongoing process and that organizations should continuously strive to improve their safety and health performance. This can be done by regularly reviewing and updating safety procedures, conducting employee training, and monitoring workplace incidents.

How I plan to incorporate what I learned from this workshop into my company’s safety program.

• Increasing employee involvement in the VPP program. I will work with my team to develop a plan for increasing employee involvement in the VPP program. This may include creating a safety committee, conducting employee surveys, and providing employees with opportunities to provide feedback on safety and health issues.
• Developing a plan for continuous improvement. I will work with my team to develop a plan for continuous improvement of our safety and health program. This may include conducting regular hazard assessments, setting safety goals, and tracking our progress toward achieving those goals.
• Providing employees with additional safety training. I will work with my team to provide employees with additional safety training. This may include training on specific hazards, training on how to implement safety procedures, and training on how to report workplace incidents.

I believe that by incorporating what I learned from this workshop, we can make our company’s safety program even more effective in reducing workplace injuries and illnesses.
